There is nothing wrong with wanting to look fabulous just as there is nothing wrong with buying fabulous things that are pre-owned. Sometimes, what we want does not match and coincide with what we have. By have, we mean what is on your bank account.
There has been a trend here in Singapore about buying pre-owned authentic designer bags. With few cleaning and dusting, these designer bags you have gotten for a low price will look new and just as fabulous as the brand new one. But what if you have bought a bag you have thought to be pre-owned, but turned out to actually be fake? The money you have paid might be a good deal for a pre-owned authentic bag, but far too expensive for a fake bag. Here are tips that can help you if a bag you are eyeing is actually fake: 1. Verify your source The supplier to avoid is the one that has way too many bags of the same style. A store like this has high tendencies of being fake. It is said that top fashion brands control the bags they circulate either by not releasing too many of the same designs, or by production. This is to maintain their exclusivity. The shop must put emphasis on customer service, and not look shabby and and sketchy. A trusted pre-owned designer bag shop must have a comprehensive FAQ, and some tips on how to shop pre-owned bags. 2. Too good to be true A pre-owned designer bag may be cheaper than a brand new one, but if the bag is legitimate, the seller would still, in a way, uphold the dignity of the bag. If a bag you are eyeing is claimed authentic but is priced below rock bottom, it is probably a fake. The only exception would be when the bag has obviously had many wear and tear already. 3. How the skin feels You must be sharp in determining how the material of the bag is. An authentic bag would be made of genuine leather, except for some with eco-friendly purposes. Synthetic leather feels rigid, cold, and lifeless while a real one would feel smooth, supple, dry and warm to touch. The zippers, too, must be smooth, and the hardware having a bit weight and not feel hollow. They should have the same colour and finish. Authentic bags are rarely glued so you might as well check the stitches. You might also check if they are neat or frayed because an authentic bag should never fray. The stitches should also be of the same colour. There are many more factors to determine if a bag they are selling as authentic yet pre-owned is actually counterfeit. These are just precautionary measures for false advertising. This is not to judge those who buy imitation bags as it is still your discretion if you want to look fabulous by buying a bag for a more practical price. The most important thing is for you to feel fabulous inside and feel good about yourself. If that is the case, then whatever you are wearing, you are good to go.
